The Los Angeles Sparks (4-3) head east for a visit with the Washington Mystics (3-5) on Thursday night.

It’s the first meeting of the 2021 WNBA season for a pair of teams persisting through injuries so far this year. The Sparks are missing both the Ogwumike sisters who coincidentally both have knee injuries. 2019 WNBA MVP Elena Delle Donne has not suited up for the Mystics since they won the Finals in October 2019. She’s out indefinitely as she recovers from her second back surgery, but you’ll likely see her cheering on her teammates from the sidelines.

Instead, expect another big night from current WNBA scoring leader Tina Charles as she looks to push the Mystics past Nia Coffey, Erica Wheeler and former Mystic Kristi Tolliver. Charles is averaging a career-high 25.9 points in her first eight games with the Mystics. The 2012 WNBA MVP looks to have found her prime again after missing the entire 2020 “wubble” season. So far, she’s a lock to win Comeback Player of the Year.
