Tigers sent down a pitcher after he puked on the mound (Video)

The Detroit Tigers had a rough time against the White Sox, but no one had it worse than Beau Burrows, who vomited then got sent back to Triple-A.

You know those dreams people have about showing up to school naked? Beau Burrows of the Detroit Tigers lived a worse nightmare in his 2021 debut.

The 24-year-old pitcher took the mound for the Tigers against the White Sox and vomited twice.

Detroit took him out of the game.

Then they wasted no time dropping him back down to the minors.

Manager A.J. Hinch told reporters Burrows experienced nausea, per Jason Beck of MLB.com. It’s possible the heat of the day may have gotten to him.

Whatever it was, that’s an embarrassing end to what had been a rough day to begin with.

Beau Burrows’ vomiting on the mound summed up a tough series for Detroit

Burrows came into the game in the top of the fourth with the Tigers already trailing 8-2. He replaced Daniel Norris and actually made quick work of his first three batters, striking out Yermin Mercedes and retiring Adam Eaton and Jake Lamb on fly balls.

It all went very wrong in the top of the fifth. Burrows walked Leury Garcia, gave up a double to Danny Mendick, then conceded two runs on a Tim Anderson single.

Burrows managed to get Yasmani Grandal and Jose Abreu out swinging, but the nausea struck as he was set to face Mercedes again.

Detroit replaced Burrows with Alex Lange, who promptly conceded three more runs before ending the inning.

The White Sox ultimately prevailed 15-2. They went on to win again on Sunday to complete the sweep. Detroit is stuck at the bottom of the AL Central.

The Tigers brought up Burrows in the first place to cover an injury to Rony Garcia, who could miss several weeks with a knee sprain. After dropping Burrows, they’ve added Buck Farmer from Triple-A Toledo.
