Awful news has come in for the Chicago White Sox, as stud second baseman Nick Madrigal has been ruled out for the rest of the season.

The worst fears have arrived for Chicago White Sox fans when it comes to standout second baseman Nick Madrigal. Earlier this month, Madrigal went down with a serious hamstring injury, but the hope was that he’d be able to return potentially this fall. However, that won’t be the case.

On Tuesday, the club announced that Madrigal has undergone surgery for the tendon tears in his right hamstring. With this, he’s officially been ruled out for the remainder of the 2021 campaign for the team.

Chicago White Sox: Nick Madrigal has officially been ruled out for the season

It goes without saying, but this is simply brutal news for Tony La Russa and the White Sox. Madrigal was in the middle of a brilliant campaign for Chicago before going down with his injury. Madrigal was hitting .317, with two homers and 32 RBI.

He’s also a defensive stud, making this latest news even more of a bummer. Despite all the injuries for the White Sox, which of course includes Eloy Jimenez and Luis Robert, the AL Central side sits in first place of the division standings with their 41-25 record. Chicago is 4.5 games clear of the Cleveland Indians.

Despite all of the drama surrounding the decision to hire La Russa, the White Sox really do look like serious threats to win the American League this year and potentially get themselves to the World Series. However, the injuries keep adding up and it’s got to be disheartening not only for the players, but the fans as well. Madrigal will now look to support his teammates from the dugout, as we won’t see him at second or at the dish until 2022.

Next. Eloy Jimenez cleared to resume baseball activities but still out for foreseeable future. dark
