Joel Embiid managed to get Clint Capela T’ed up with an Oscar-worthy flop during Game 5.

Joel Embiid must not be satisfied with his recent All-NBA distinctions. Judging by his legendary flop during the first half of Game 5, the Philadelphia 76ers big man is after an Academy Award too.

Embiid got slightly tangled up defending Atlanta Hawks center Clint Capela in the paint. He should be very proud of his ensuing performance, at least from an acting standpoint. Check it out.

It’s unclear whether Capela was frustrated at his lackluster attempt to drive to the basket or just ticked off at Embiid’s flopping skills. It doesn’t really matter though, as he was assessed a technical foul and Embiid hit the freebie.

Embiid sells flop, Capela gets a technical

Embiid is 7’0″ tall and weighs in at 280 pounds. He’s one of the strongest athletes on the planet. Guys like that don’t just magically “fall over.” It takes effort, and Embiid is quickly building his reputation as one of the NBA’s biggest floppers.

Capela was already throwing shade at Embiid after Game 4, so we can’t wait to hear what he has to say later.

With Philadelphia up more than 20 points at halftime, Embiid’s acting skills likely won’t be the primary difference-maker in this one, but he still deserves an Oscar and more for drawing a tech with his flop. We’re sure the Atlanta crowd will give him an earful during Game 6.
