Atlanta Braves manager Brian Snitker calls out Ronald Acuña Jr. in the team’s latest debacle.

Brian Snitker criticizing the team’s best player in Ronald Acuña Jr. for a late-inning base-running blunder is the latest example of how things are going for the 2021 Atlanta Braves.

Acuña was thrown out by 10 feet trying to make something happen on the base paths late in the game. Despite scoring eight runs, the Braves lost at home 10-8 to the Boston Red Sox to fall to 30-35 on the year.

The biggest reason the Braves are 7.5 games back of the New York Mets for first place in the NL East is the Atlanta bullpen is the equivalent of the Atlanta Falcons defense.

Acuna went 3-for-5 at the plate with an RBI, but he isn’t immune to criticism.

Atlanta Braves: Brian Snitker criticizes Ronald Acuña Jr. after latest loss

Sadly, we are at the point where Atlanta needs to move on from Snitker. You can’t criticize your most talented player for making a mistake when you make half-a-dozen mental errors nightly managing this team into the ground. Snitker is clearly enrolled in the Fredi Gonzalez School of Bullpen Management. I have more faith in The Smiths getting back together than in this bullpen.

How soon is now for the Braves to make the move that is required?

Admittedly, Acuña is not perfect, but he has the potential to be the National League’s version of Mike Trout. It is not his fault this Braves bullpen can be trusted about as much as Bobby Petrino. Snitker is in pure desperation mode now.

Finding new and creative ways to lose is a great way to get your skipper sent on his way packing.
