2 reasons the Cleveland Browns can win the Super Bowl this year

Cleveland’s tortured sports history says the Browns can’t be Super Bowl contenders, but this year’s roster has the talent to win it all.

Long-suffering Browns fans understand that preseason hope is something that can turn into serious pain when the regular season begins. Even so, it’s fair to say that Cleveland has a chance to emerge as a dark horse Super Bowl contender in 2021. They aren’t walking into the regular season as title favorites, but dismissing their chances to make a deep postseason run would be folly.

After all, the Browns did manage to go 11-5 last season even if that was only good enough or a tie for second place inside the AFC North. It was still a massive step in the right direction for Kevin Stefanski and his staff. The challenge facing the Browns organization in 2021 is going from good to great.

There’s plenty of talent on GM Andrew Berry’s roster to make that leap. Read on to discover the two biggest reasons why the Browns might be able to capture the Lombardi Trophy this season.

2. The Browns pass rush has a chance to be elite

There can be no argument that Myles Garrett is one of the most disruptive edge rushers in football. He notched 12 sacks in 14 games last year without breaking a real sweat. As long as he stays healthy, he’s got a chance to lead the NFL in sacks in 2021.

Adding Jadeveon Clowney to man the right defensive end position could make Cleveland’s front unblockable for opposing offenses. The knock on Clowney has always been that he produces pressure but fails to actually get to the opposing quarterback at an acceptable rate.

Any pressure he produces for this defense is only going to force an opposing quarterback into Garrett’s waiting arms. If someone like Malik Jackson or Andrew Billings can produce pressure up the middle, this group is going to become elite in a hurry.
