4. Houston Rockets

The Houston Rockets crash-landed post-James Harden to the bottom of the Western Conference by the end of the season. However, they could end up with a premium draft pick because of their horrid season. That pick could be a valuable asset to bring Ben Simmons to H-Town, pairing him with other talented young players on Houston’s roster.

Christian Wood exploded on the NBA scene, finding his fit with Houston as their man down low. If Simmons were to join him, it gives Houston a talented duo to build the team around. The Rockets need some kind of star power in their arena now the Harden is gone, and the point forward is the perfect player to get fans into the seats.

Houston should consider this deal because of what they could potentially offload if they do. Any trade involving Simmons would likely mean John Wall would be involved. Getting rid of Wall moves his hefty contract off the books and helps him. At 30-years-old, the point guard doesn’t fit the Rockets’ long-term plans, and going to Philly puts him on a contender. Injuries have limited Wall’s effectiveness over his career, but he showed flashes of his greatness in Houston.

Working out a trade for Ben Simmons with Houston might be a sneaky good option for the Sixers, especially if it involves Wall. The Rockets get a young star who they can build around alongside Wood, and Philly gains a legitimate point guard with experience and hunger. Houston could be on the fast track back to contention if they can acquire Simmons this offseason.
