This week on the Over and Back Podcast we begin our new series on NBA playoff buzzer-beaters!

This multi-part series will take a deep dive into each and every playoff buzzer-beater in NBA history.

We start with episode one focusing on first-round series clinchers including:

  • Mike Woodson airballs, Sleepy Floyd hits a huge shot but a Derrick McKey alley-oop sends Hakeem Olajuwon and the Houston Rockets packing as his Seattle SuperSonics move onto the second round.
  • THE SHOT: Yes, of course, we cover Michael Jordan‘s iconic shot over Cleveland Cavaliers guard Craig Ehlo that stabbed the city of Cleveland in the heart and helped the Chicago Bulls take the next step towards an NBA championship. Beyond the shot, we talk about Jordan stealing Ehlo’s moment of glory, the CBS broadcast of the moment that did NOT feature the iconic shot of Jordan celebrating and head coach Doug Collins‘ play-call for the last-second shot.
  • Years pass before Portland Trail Blazers star Damian Lillard blesses us with two series-clinching buzzer beaters. The first is his famed “0.9” shot against Dwight Howard, James Harden and the Houston Rockets.
  • Lillard comes back years later to waving goodbye to the Oklahoma City Thunder’s competitive window, sends Russell Westbrook and Paul George out of town with one incredible (or as George put it: bad) shot.
