Quenton Nelson is not buying into the notion that Carson Wentz is a bad teammate at all.

For the fourth year in a row, Indianapolis Colts All-Pro guard Quenton Nelson will have a new starting quarterback to protect.

Former No. 2 overall pick of the Philadelphia Eagles in Carson Wentz reunites with his former offensive coordinator Frank Reich in Indianapolis. Wentz played at an MVP level in his second year out of North Dakota State under Reich. Philadelphia won the Super Bowl in 2017, but Wentz suffered a season-ending injury in the final quarter of the year. Everything changed after that.

In Wentz’s last three years with the Eagles, he fell out of favor with teammates and the fanbase. He did not want to compete with second-round pick Jalen Hurts for playing time a year ago. After a down year, Wentz was traded to the Colts. Hoping to leave all the bad press behind him, Wentz looks to turn over a new leaf in Indianapolis. Nelson is not buying into the Wentz criticism one bit.

“Yeah, that’s absurd to me,” said Nelson to FanSided‘s Mark Carman on behalf of Big Q’s NFT Drop to Support The V Foundation for Cancer Research. “Every practice, he’s locked in and he’s ready to go. He’s prepared.”

“I also feel like he genuinely cares about each of his teammates, just by the way he will talk to you or ask you something … I am surely excited to play with him because of the leadership he is showing and also how motivated he is to have a great season this season. I think we can do that together.”

How confident should Colts fans be about Nelson being all-in with their new starting quarterback?

Indianapolis Colts: Quenton Nelson likes what he sees out of Carson Wentz

Nelson would add in his conversation with Carman that Wentz has already taken the offensive linemen out for dinner and covered the check. He reaffirmed how excited he is to star in the same Colts offense with him. While Nelson has protected quarterbacks like Andrew Luck, Jacoby Brissett and Philip Rivers since turning pro, he has an opportunity to really grow with Wentz under center.

Look, the only thing that really matters here is the perennial All-Pro guard fully endorses Wentz as his starting quarterback. Nelson may love pancaking interior defensive linemen so running backs like Nyheim Hines, Marlon Mack and Jonathan Taylor can sprint to pay dirt. However, he knows the only way he is winning a Super Bowl is with a franchise quarterback he can lean on in the clutch.

Colts fans should be amped about Nelson having a ringing endorsement of Wentz already.
