The Los Angeles Lakers would have to give up Kyle Kuzma to make this work

The Los Angeles Lakers still have their championship window open, but it is not as open as one would think. LeBron James is not getting any younger and Anthony Davis is never going to be a player you can count on to be healthy when it matters. While they are the Lakers’ two stars, Los Angeles could land Sexton as their starting point guard if they are willing to give up Kyle Kuzma.

The idea of Los Angeles paying big money to Dennis Schroder to be their starting point guard does not make sense. He is a great sixth man, but he is not consistent enough to be a starter on a contending team. While the Lakers could look at adding a point guard in free agency, they could get younger and potentially more explosive offensively by trading Kuzma to Cleveland for Sexton.

Admittedly, this potential deal checks a lot of the boxes. Both teams would get better from the deal and they play in opposite conferences. However, there is some concern with Sexton being a tad too green and having never played winning basketball before for it to be of James’ liking. This is why veteran players like Bradley Beal, Kyle Lowry or either Portland guard may make more sense.

The Lakers would be a great fit for him, but there is one other team who would love Sexton more.
