Super middleweight David Morrell made quick work of previously undefeated Mario Cazares for the first-round knockout victory on FOX.

David Morrell is a young boxer with a bright future. He captured the WBA “interim” super middleweight title in just his third professional fight. On Sunday, June 27, he made another splash on PBC on FOX.

Morrell (5-0, 4 KOs) was expected to field a bit of a challenge from Mario Cazares, who came into the fight with an undefeated record, but that wasn’t the case. It took Morrell just one round to smash Cazares to bits with his left hand.

Morrell drove to straight lefts to Cazares’ head at the end of round 1, which sent Cazares flying to the canvas. He lifted his shoulders off the canvas, but that was as far as he got. The fight was over, giving Morrell his fourth KO in five fights.

Morrell is originally from Cuba, but the 23-year-old amateur standout makes his home in Minnesota. He impressed fans at The Armory in Minneapolis, his adopted home.

Morrell holds the WBA “regular” super middleweight title and is marching up the ranks towards the division’s best. If he keeps the highlight reel KOs coming, he might find a major fight on the horizon.
