With a 1-0 loss to Belgium on Sunday, reigning Euro champions Portugal and Cristiano Ronaldo have been eliminated from the tournament.

There will be new kings of Europe later this summer. That’s because Portugal, the defending champions of the Euro tournament, have officially been eliminated from contention after they suffered a loss to Belgium on Sunday.

Thanks to a sensational goal from Thorgan Hazard in the 42nd minute, Belgium took the lead in the first half and never looked back.

Portugal has been eliminated from the Euro tournament after losing to Belgium

While Portugal tried its best to try and even things up in the second half, they simply could not find the back of the net. Belgium’s defense really locked them down, preserving the big-time 1-0 victory. Now, Belgium is among the favorites to win it all this year.

Unfortunately for Ronaldo, he wasn’t able to deliver his usual magic and he’ll now have to watch the rest of the tournament from home.
