The Los Angeles Lakers would be a juggernaut if they traded for Damian Lillard, but that deal with the Portland Trail Blazers isn’t going to happen.

The whole NBA world is buzzing about the possibility of the Portland Trail Blazers trading Damian Lillard.

The star point guard is uncertain about being able to win a title in Portland and was caught off guard by the controversy around the Blazers intending to hire Chauncey Billups as their new head coach, per a Yahoo! Sports report.

Naturally, the Los Angeles Lakers have come up as a possible landing place. However, fans shouldn’t get their hopes up about adding Lillard to an already star-studded roster.

3. Damian Lillard is anti-super team

Lillard is cut from a different cloth than the modern NBA. He has no interest in joining a so-called super-team. At least, that was the tune he was singing in February when he explicitly said he had no interest in going that route.

Back then, it looked like Lillard would be loyal to Portland, but his mind is changing on that front, it seems. Perhaps he’ll also come around to the idea of super-teams.

Still, Lillard does have a unique mentality and it would be a surprise to see him make that particular 360-degree turn … especially to join the Lakers.

Of course, Lillard isn’t the one who gets to decide, but he won’t exactly be pushing for a move to the Lakers to ride the coat tails of LeBron James and Anthony Davis. It would be one thing to partner up with another superstar for the sake of pursuing a title. It would be quite another to join LA’s pre-existing championship-winning pairing. Whatever title won in Los Angeles wouldn’t exactly be his.

Since the Lakers don’t have the best trade package to offer, the only thing that would get Lillard to LA is forcing it to happen. That doesn’t feel very likely.
