The Vanderbilt Commodores and the Mississippi State Bulldogs will face each other in the College World Series finals.
After the Mississippi State Bulldogs eliminated the Texas Longhorns and the Vanderbilt Commodores advanced on after North Carolina State was sent home because of COVID-19 protocols, a total of two teams remained in the 2021 College World Series.
A few weeks back, a total of 64 teams were contending for a national championship as the 2021 NCAA Baseball Tournament began. When the Regional round wrapped up, 16 teams were left standing. Once the Super Regionals concluded, eight teams headed to Omaha for the College World Series.
Now, in Omaha, just two teams are left standing: Vanderbilt and Mississippi State. The two SEC teams have consistently been amongst the best teams in the country all year and now they’re going to play a best-of-three series to find out who will be the national champs.
Here’s what you’ll need to watch the Bulldogs and Commodores play in the first game of the College World Series finals.

The Commodores are looking to win a second straight championship after winning it all in 2019 (the 2020 season was canceled because of a global pandemic). If they can grab a win in Game 1, they’ll be off to a great start in accomplishing that goal.
Meanwhile, Mississippi State is seeking its first championship ever. The Bulldogs are in the midst of their 12th trip to Omaha, but they’ve never come out on top of the College World Series. Taking down Vanderbilt will be tough to do, but the Bulldogs have shown plenty of potential.
