For England, this really is a sensational result. Sterling’s goal came after he drove down the pitch, then received a brilliant cross from Manchester United’s Luke Shaw. Sterling celebrated in style and rightfully so.

Later in the second half, Germany nearly evened the score up. Thomas Muller was presented with a wonderful chance and found himself one-on-one with Jordan Pickford. The German veteran smashed the ball left of the post, which no one could believe. He totally blew it.

Kane and England made him pay for it, as Grealish fired in a left-footed cross and Kane did the rest, closing the scoring out at 2-0. For the Tottenham striker, this was a goal he desperately needed. His teammates swarming him on the field was a special scene.

Next up for England will be a date with either Sweden or Ukraine in the quarterfinals. The team sure looks like a major threat to win the tourney, though Spain, Belgium and others will have something to say about that.
