2 key offseason moves the Seahawks still need to make
Extend Duane Brown
Like Adams, Brown is a free agent next offseason, his arrival from the Houston Texans in 2017 one of the more astute recent acquisitions by Schneider.
Unquestionably the top player on the Seattle offensive line, left tackle Brown has been a stabilizing force for a group that, much to his very apparent annoyance, has not succeeded in protecting Wilson consistently.
With another season of stellar play, things could get expensive and tricky for the Seahawks in terms of re-signing Brown, who would almost certainly be able to leverage an impressive 2021 into more money on the open market.
The Seahawks, though, have a balancing act to perform. Brown is 35 years old and Seattle may be reluctant to pay over the odds for a tackle who could only have a couple more seasons in him.
Schneider will have to settle on a price point and a contract that fairly compensates Brown and protects the Seahawks should his play deteriorate in the coming seasons.
That may be easier said than done, however, if they allow Brown to start the season without an extension signed, the difficulty level of the challenge of retaining his services cranks up several notches.
