The Bucks have underdog odds to win the NBA Finals

There are big questions hovering over Milwaukee as they make it to the Finals for the first time since 1974. The health of star forward Giannis Antetokounmpo is chief among them.

Antetokounmpo hyperextended his knee during Game 4 against the Hawks in the Eastern Conference Finals. He had to sit out Game 5 and 6 as a result.

There was talk of Antetokounmpo being available if the Bucks needed him in a Game 7. However, Milwaukee saw off Trae Young and the Hawks in Game 6 to wrap up the series on Saturday.

Game 1 of the Finals will take place on Tuesday, July 6. The Bucks will be crossing their fingers hoping their superstar is good to go by then.

Given Antetokounmpo’s health concerns, it makes sense to see the Suns preferred as favorites. After all, Phoenix will be healthy and rested by the time the series tips off. They’ll also have home-court advantage with the first two games in the desert.

The Suns and Bucks played twice in the regular season, with Phoenix winning the two meetings. Both games were tightly contested. The first in February ended 125-124 in favor of the Suns. The second in April went into overtime before the Suns won 128-127.

NBA fans can only hope the Finals are just as hard-fought and decided by similarly narrow margins.
