Chicago White Sox outfielder Billy Hamilton performed a catch of the year candidate during Tuesday’s game against the Minnesota Twins.

The Chicago White Sox had not had the best couple of days. Not only were they on a three-game losing streak entering Tuesday night, but they revealed earlier in the day that starting catcher Yasmani Grandal is out for the next four-to-six weeks with a torn tendon in his left knee. What better way to end the bad vibes than with a win against the rival Minnesota Twins.

In the bottom of the ninth inning with one out on the board in the rain, Twins outfielder Max Kepler hit a deep shot to center field off White Sox closer Liam Hendriks. But, Kepler’s hit had nothing on outfielder Billy Hamilton, who made a phenomenal leaping catch to get the second out of the inning.

Hamilton had a huge smile on his face and Hendriks threw both arms up in the air after witnessing the impressive catch. The White Sox closer ended the game by forcing Twins first baseman Miguel Sano to fly out to left field on six pitches thrown to earn the 4-1 win.

White Sox catcher Zack Collins gave the White Sox an early 2-0 lead with a single to center field in the top of the second inning, allowing Brian Goodwin and Leury Garcis to score. After the Twins cut their deficit to 2-1 on an RBI single by Alex Kirilloff, Chicago pulled away in the top of the eighth inning with an RBI single by Adam Eaton, who scored on a sacrifice fly by Jose Abreu to give the team a 4-1 lead.

When it comes to deciding the catch of the 2021 season, be sure to throw in this ridiculous grab by Hamilton.
