Chicago Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant left Wednesday’s game with a hamstring injury and he’s now day-to-day.

Things just haven’t been going great for the Chicago Cubs over the last few weeks. Things were only made worse on Wednesday when star third baseman Kris Bryant was removed from the action against the Phillies due to injury.

It’s since been revealed that Bryant exited the game with a hamstring injury. Fortunately, it’s nothing serious and he’s considered day-to-day. However, should this injury continue to bother Bryant, it could spell trouble for Chicago.

It goes without saying, but any kind of injury for Bryant is always going to be a major concern for this team. Bryant’s name also continues to be floated around in different trade rumors leading up to the deadline. A hamstring knock is of course going to bring down his value.

For the Cubs as a whole, they were able to take down Philly on Wednesday in a game the club desperately needed. Entering that first pitch, Chicago had lost 11-straight games. They were flirting with the team’s record of 14 consecutive losses, which no supporter wanted to see.

Luckily, they beat the Phillies, but it didn’t come without a cost. The hope is that Bryant will be able to get back to the hot corner and in the lineup as soon as possible.

If Chicago has any hopes of getting back in the NL Central race – the team is 43-44 on the year – they’ll need the star sluggers to get back into top form and start creating magic at the plate. Bryant will of course be needed to deliver as well. That is if he isn’t traded.
