Where are Jake Paul and Tyron Woodley fighting on August 29?
The Jake Paul boxing saga continues at the end of the summer. After knocking out former UFC welterweight Ben Askren, Paul will face former UFC champion Tyron Woodley on Sunday, August 29.
Woodley was released from the UFC after a string of consecutive losses against some of the division’s best put him at a crossroads in his MMA career. Names like Gilbert Burns and Colby Covington are just a few that the former champion has fallen to during his losing skid.
Now, Woodley will look for a new combat sports outlet when he tries his hand at boxing and takes on the YouTube sensation and internet personality.
Woodley resides in St. Louis, MO and has not experienced a victory since a welterweight title defense against Darren Till at UFC 228 in September 2018. He wound up losing to current champion, Kamaru Usman, which marked the beginning of the end for Woodley’s UFC journey, at least for now.
On the other hand, Paul has had a meteoric rise in the combat sports arena. He currently sits at 3-0 and has been an advocate for consistent fighter pay in the UFC.
Is Jake Paul vs. Tyron Woodley taking place in Las Vegas?
Sin City will not have the luxury of hosting Paul vs. Woodley, as the bout will actually take place in Paul’s stomping grounds of Cleveland, OH. It is an unusual site for a marquee attraction, especially with the fanfare between the two stars.
As for the date, the bout is scheduled on a Sunday night instead of the traditional Saturday time slot that many fans are used to.
At press time, the details are unknown but more information is expected to come out during a press conference in Los Angeles.
Let the build-up to Paul vs. Woodley officially begin.
