According to reports from Europe, Manchester United has opened up talks with Real Madrid to try and land center back Raphael Varane.

Things sure have been busy at Old Trafford this summer. First, Manchester United was finally able to get across the finish line in its pursuits of winger Jadon Sancho. But, could the Premier League powerhouse be getting ready for another blockbuster move?

According to insider Fabrizio Romano, United has opened up talks with Real Madrid for superstar center back Raphael Varane, and an official bid is expected to be on the way soon. Varane to United would no question be a massive get for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Manchester United is hoping to also land Raphael Varane this summer

At the Euros, center back Harry Maguire showcased why he was one of the most expensive signings ever, as he really had a tremendous showing from start to finish. Could you imagine Varane working alongside Maguire? The two would form arguably the best defensive duo in the Premier League.

What helps Manchester United here is that Varane has come out and said that he’s open to a new challenge. The Frenchman would join countryman Paul Pogba. Pogba himself was brilliant at the Euros.

In addition to Varane, United is also reportedly discussing a move for Eduardo Camavinga. If the club were to secure Sancho, Varane and Camavinga, this could turn out to be the best summer transfer window they’ve ever had.

For now, though, the focus is on Varane. The thought of him playing with Maguire should scare the rest of the league. United fans will hope to find out soon if this gets done, but things are surely looking promising for the Red Devils.

After all the drama, Lionel Messi took a pay cut to stay with Barcelona. dark. Next
