How do you pronounce Travis Kelce’s name? As it turns out, we need to update our Travis Kelce pronunciation because it’s been all wrong.

You know those Twitter threads that always start with ‘I was today years old when I learned…’?

Football fans all collectively had one of those moments when Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce revealed we’ve all been saying his name wrong this entire time. Rather than correct us, which would have been extremely helpful almost a decade ago, Kelce says he just rolled with it.

“I just sort of rolled with the punches,” Kelce said in a podcast interview.

If we’ve all been saying Travis Kelce’s name wrong this whole time it also means we’ve been saying his brother Jason’s name wrong as well.

Even reading this, the little narrator voice in your head probably produced it as KEL-SEE, which is apparently wrong.

It wouldn’t be the first time we’ve learned that a player’s name is pronounced differently than we’ve been saying. Robert Tonyan waited a lot sooner than eight years to correct us on how to say his name.

Maybe it’s a tight end thing, the common thread is right there.

How do you pronounce Travis Kelce’s name?

According to the man himself, it’s pronounced KELC in the same way you’d abbreviate the name, Kelsey.

Excuse me, what?

When you try to spell it out phonetically, dropping the ‘SEE’ from the end of the pronunciation actually makes a ton of sense.

A new Travis Kelce pronunciation is not the ah-ha moment anyone was expecting to have today, yet here we are.

Patrick Mahomes, Chiefs players react to new Travis Kelce pronunciation

Don’t worry if your brain is melting right now, or you’re questioning everything in this reality. Two of Kelce’s most famous teammates — people who interact with him for long stretches of time on an almost daily basis — also didn’t know they’ve been saying his name wrong this entire time.

Patrick Mahomes’ mind was blown:

Tyreek Hill was also shocked:

Is this all a bit? Kelce is one of the biggest jokers in the league and this would be one of the most epic troll jobs we’ve ever seen if ‘rolling with the punches’ really meant making us think our entire lives have been a lie.

Travis Kelce dropping a truth bomb on everyone to let us know, after eight years, we’ve been saying his name wrong is perhaps the biggest offseason development we didn’t see coming.
