Not everyone at Notre Dame is on board with Chick-fil-A making its way onto campus.

With a Chick-fil-A location possibly making its way onto the University of Notre Dame campus in South Bend, Indiana, not everybody is on board with this.

Some students and faculty have signed a petition to prevent the Atlanta-based fast-food restaurant from setting up shop on the university’s grounds. Their reasoning for this is multi-faceted. Some are opposed to the homophobic organizations Chick-fil-A has donated to in the past. Others find their menu to not be inclusive when it comes to vegetarians and vegans alike.

It is only fitting U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham (South Carolina) got himself involved in this mess.

Some Notre Dame students, faculty do not want a Chick-fil-A on campus

For a university with strong Catholic ties, it is hard to fathom there is not a Chick-fil-A on campus in South Bend already. Admittedly, you would be hard-pressed to not find one of their restaurants on most campuses of note these days. Then again, this has historically been a southern-based fast-food restaurant chain. Only recently has Chick-fil-A begun to enter some Midwestern states.

If Notre Dame is unable to get a Chick-fil-A campus due to internal backlash from some of its students and faculty, that’s fine, but whatever the university ends up getting instead will be judged accordingly. A lot of people really enjoy Chick-fil-A’s products throughout the United States. It may not be everyone’s favorite, but they have built a loyal customer base over the last 70 years.

The only thing we can all agree on is Chick-fil-A is never going to be open on Sunday.
