As it turns out, it looks like Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce was trolling everyone by saying we were mispronouncing his last name.

Kansas City Chiefs fans were losing their minds as a whole on Wednesday when superstar tight end Travis Kelce revealed people have been mispronouncing his last name for years, saying it’s ‘Kelss’ and not ‘Kel-Cee.’

Hold the phone on that, though, folks. FOX4 News’ Dave D’Marko couldn’t tell if Kelce was serious or not, so he did what any responsible journalist would do: he asked his mom to set the record straight. And that she did.

So, Kelce-gate has officially come to an end?

That seems to be the case, with the tight end’s mom saying it indeed is pronounced ‘Kel-Cee.’ There you have it, nothing to see here folks. Now, everyone can forget about this and focus on the Chiefs trying to win another Super Bowl.

The AFC West powerhouse is considered the favorite to get that done come next winter. With Patrick Mahomes looking game-ready following his offseason foot surgery, you know the signal-caller will be amped up to wipe away the rough memories from the loss to the Bucs.

The same can be said for Kelce, who is coming off a monster season in 2020. Last campaign, the 6-foot-5, 260-pounder posted 105 receptions for 1,416 yards and 11 touchdowns. Because of his bubbling personality, he’s of course a fan favorite all over Kansas City. With that said, let’s hope he doesn’t try and troll everyone with his name again in the near future. It will only add more confusion.
