Best Kris Bryant trades for Mets, Padres and Braves

With the Chicago Cubs set to sell at the trade deadline, here are some trades that the New York Mets, San Diego Padres and Atlanta Braves can make to acquire Kris Bryant.

The Chicago Cubs started off the season looking like perennial contenders in the National League. But entering the All-Star Break, the Cubs were 44-46 and eight games behind the Milwaukee Brewers for first in the NL Central.

Prior to this, all indications pointed to the Cubs selling at the trade deadline later this month. They already got a head start on Thursday by trading outfielder Joc Pederson to the Atlanta Braves.

Chicago has three huge impending free agents, one of whom is third baseman, Kris Bryant. He has been the subject of trade rumors for the past couple of years, and it now seems as though the Cubs will pull the trigger on a deal to get some sort of return for him before he hits free agency.

There are three teams that could use Bryant that just so happen to be in the postseason hunt, and they are the New York Mets, San Diego Padres and Braves. But what would it take for each one of them to acquire the former NL MVP?

Here’s how the New York Mets trade for Kris Bryant

For the Cubs, they can not expect to get No. 1 prospects in exchange for Bryant, simply for the fact that he is set to explore the open market this upcoming winter. Either way, the Cubs can still get some solid young talent from the Mets’ 19th-ranked farm system (per MLB.com) for Bryant’s services.

Since the Cubs are set to lose their starting third baseman, it only makes sense for them to get a player who mans the hot corner in return. Mets fans, you will not be surrendering top third baseman prospect Brett Baty. Instead, New York can give up eighth-overall prospect Matt Vientos as part of the deal.

The Mets need one more piece to sweeten the deal for Chicago, and it would certainly help to throw in a pitching prospect. The Cubs starting rotation has diminished tremendously in the past year, so it only makes sense that they add a potential arm in right-hander J.T. Ginn. While some Mets fans may be wary of the team surrendering Ginn already, they are in a position to make such a deal after Vanderbilt’s Kumar Rocker somehow, someway dropped to them in the first round of this year’s MLB Draft.

The Mets give up two prospects to make a run for the division title and a potential trip to the World Series. Cubs should have no problem with this deal.
