JD Martinez got away with a sneaky troll of Gerrit Cole at the All-Star Game (Video)
By Mark Powell
Boston Red Sox slugger JD Martinez covertly trolled New York Yankees ace Gerrit Cole at the All-Star Game in Denver.
If you blink, you might miss it. Martinez isn’t out to be featured in articles like these, nor does he want any part in waking up a sleeping giant in the Bronx.
Both JD and Cole were at the All-Star festivities in Denver earlier this week. While Martinez was warming up in the outfield with fellow AL East stars Vladmir Guerrero, Jr. and Teoscar Hernandez, he made a subtle comment about how Cole acted on the team bus en route to the ballpark.
Evidently, the rivalry is still very much alive for Cole, who ignored both Martinez and teammate Xander Bogaerts.

New York Yankees-Boston Red Sox rivalry alive and well
It’s tough to blame Cole for wanting nothing to do with the division-leading Boston Red Sox. Both Martinez and Bogaerts are enjoying excellent seasons, and while Cole has been solid in the Bronx, his team has failed to live up to expectations.
In part due to injuries, and seemingly everything going wrong that could, the Yankees sit in fourth place in the AL East, nine games back of Boston. They’re 5.5 games back of the final Wild Card spot, currently held by the Oakland Athletics.
Meanwhile, Boston is considering what they can add before the MLB Trade Deadline to cement their status as World Series contenders, and put even more distance between themselves and New York, Toronto and the Rays.
