Chicago Cubs All-Star Kris Bryant is the biggest name on the trade block and the former MVP admits it’s taking a toll on his mental health.

Kris Bryant may be in the final days and hours of being a member of the Chicago Cubs and the 2016 MVP and World Series champion admits it’s wearing on him.

Bryant has been the subject of trade rumors for the better part of the last two seasons and they’ve become as intense as ever in the days ahead of the MLB trade deadline on July 30. Bryant will be a free agent at the end of the year and the Cubs don’t seem interested in paying for a player as talented as he is and are intent on trading the All-Star.

After Tuesday night’s loss to the Cincinnati Reds, Bryant admitted the constant barrage of trade rumors and his uncertain future is exhausting.

“Some of the stuff is just exhausting,” Bryant said. “I’m doing my best to keep my focus where it needs to be and help whoever I can here along the way. Whatever happens, it’s out of my control.”

To his credit, Bryant hasn’t let it affect him at the plate or in the field. While his future is out of control, he’s controlling the things he can control and has a good plan for dealing with his mental health.

“Pick up the guitar, play some video games, take your mind off of it,” Bryant said when asked how he manages his mental health. “That’s what I do. Chase the little guy around the house. Have some chocolate cake, some ice cream. Get 9 hours of sleep. Have a positive attitude for the next day”

It sounds like Bryant is taking everything in stride as he awaits his fate. All signs point to Bryant being moved by Friday’s deadline with the Mets, Giants and Rays among the suitors vying for him.

Cubs fans have braced for the likelihood of the fan-favorite being traded, but when it ultimately happens, playing some video games, eating some chocolate cake and ice cream is how many will be coping with the loss of No. 17.
