The Green Bay Packers have finalized their trade for Randall Cobb, bringing back the veteran wide receiver in exchange for a late-round pick.

With Brian Gutekunst clearly needing to work overtime to get back on Aaron Rodgers’ good side, he’s taken a step in the right direction with his latest move. According to NFL insider Tom Pelissero, Green Bay has agreed to a trade that brings back Randall Cobb.

Cobb and Rodgers are incredibly close, but the speedster left town following the 2018 campaign. Cobb spent 2019 with Dallas before joining the Houston Texans last season. Now, Cobb, who announced his return to Lambeau Field earlier in the day, is headed back to Green Bay. The Texans are receiving a sixth-round pick in return.

Aaron Rodgers will surely be fired up about Randall Cobb returning to Green Bay

Cobb of course is no stranger to the Packers, as he spent 2011-18 with the organization. A one-time Pro Bowler, Cobb was nothing short of sensational in 2014. That season, he posted 91 receptions for 1,287 yards and 12 touchdowns, all career-highs.

Despite being 30 years old, Cobb still has plenty left in the tank and of course loves catching balls from Rodgers. The two are incredibly close on and off the field, which makes this reunion even more special for everyone involved.

This move had been in the works for a couple days now, but it looks like the trade is now official. For Cobb, he’ll get his second chance to catch balls from one of the best quarterbacks football fans have ever seen. Meanwhile for Rodgers, he gets his guy back in the fold.
