The women’s 100m freestyle final is a stone’s throw away from starting. Australia’s Emma McKeon and USA’s Abby Weitzel go head to head for bragging rights.

The Olympic women’s100m freestyle has always been the most suspenseful race since it goes so quickly. The 4x100m relay gave us a preview of who may take home the gold, with Australia, Canada and the United States all medaling in the event.

As we all know, the overall theme of the women’s swimming events this Olympic cycle has been Team USA vs. Team Australia. But you can’t rule out any team, with swimmers just being hundredths of a second between each other in the semis. The hype is all set and waiting for us to tune in.

It looks like you could rally for the Aussies to take home the gold, with Emma McKoen qualifying for the final with a time of 52.32 seconds. McKoen also swam on the 4x100m relay team that took the gold just a few nights ago. Cate Campell also swam on the gold medal team, qualifying with a time of 52.71.

Team USA is just behind them with Abby Weitzel qualifying with a time of 52.99 seconds. Weitzel also swam in the 4x100m team as the second leg and with a reaction time of 0.18 seconds. Needless to say the level of competition is going to be fierce while chasing another medal for the arsenal of the US and Australia.
