Joey Gallo thanks Texas Rangers fans for all the love before joining the New York Yankees.

After nine seasons in the Texas Rangers organization, Joey Gallo paid his respects to the fanbase after being traded to the New York Yankees.

Gallo was drafted in the first round of the 2012 MLB Amateur Draft out of his native Las Vegas by the Rangers. He debuted with the big-league club in 2015. Beginning in 2017, he became a regular fixture in the Rangers’ starting lineup, as he made a pair of AL All-Star teams and won a Gold Glove during his nine years in the Texas organization. For now, Gallo is a member of the Yankees.

Here is what he said to the Rangers fans on Twitter upon being traded to the Yankees this week.

Joey Gallo says goodbye to Rangers fans after being traded to Yankees

New York is fighting for its postseason life as the trade deadline approaches. Expected to contend for a World Series this year, New York is in danger of missing out on the postseason entirely. The Yankees have had a myriad of issues, including in the outfield and from the left side of the plate. Trading for Gallo should help the Yankees in those departments, but he will not hit for average.

Gallo may have 25 home runs and 55 runs batted in on the season, but he is only slashing .223/.379/.470. While his .223 batting average is above his career average of a dismal .211, a big reason for his strong .379 on-base percentage is that he leads the majors in walks with 74. If he keeps seeing the ball well, Gallo might be the offensive catalyst in the outfield the Yankees need.

While he certainly loved his time with the Rangers, Gallo faces huge pressure now with New York.
