Of course, the Los Angeles Dodgers are trying to trade for Chicago Cubs closer Craig Kimbrel.

After breaking the San Diego Padres’ hearts last night by dealing for Washington Nationals ace Max Scherzer, the Los Angeles Dodgers are interested adding Chicago Cubs closer Craig Kimbrel at the deadline as well.

The Dodgers are the defending World Series champions and have the largest pay role in all of baseball. They are firmly in their championship window and will stop at nothing to ensure themselves of getting back to the World Series with a shot at a repeat. Since Chicago is in the midst of a fire sale, the Cubs could be able to get a few of the Dodgers top prospects for him.

This could be the latest example of the rich getting richer if Kimbrel dons the Dodger blue.

Los Angeles plays in a deep NL West division that could be sending three teams into the postseason. Not only are the Padres a good team this year as well, but the San Francisco Giants are playing some fantastic baseball this season, too. The shame in it all is only one of these three strong clubs will win the division, as the other two would have to settle for NL Wild Card berths.
