The Oakland Athletics just pulled off a big trade with the Washington Nationals to acquire infielder Josh Harrison and catcher Yan Gomes.

In what’s been a trade deadline day to remember, the Washington Nationals have sent both infielder Josh Harrison and catcher Yan Gomez to the Oakland Athletics. The Athletics are serious about taking down the Houston Astros for the AL West title. This deal made that clear.

This addition of Harrison in particular is exciting for Athletics fans, as the two-time All-Star is hitting .294 this year and is still making his great plays in both the infield and outfield.

Josh Harrison and Yan Gomes are officially heading to the Oakland Athletics

For the Athletics, we’re giving them a B+ grade for this move. Because of Harrison’s versatility, he could really help this team out in multiple different ways the rest of the season. Gomes is also a strong addition, as he’s batting .271 this year with nine homers.

On the other side of things, Ken Rosenthal is reporting A’s prospects Drew Millas, Seth Shuman and Richard Guasch are making their way to Washington. It’s a nice return for the Nats, who we’re giving a B for this move.
