Jevon Carter is an underrated pickup for the Nets

In a trade on NBA Draft night, the Brooklyn Nets acquired point guard Jevon Carter and fans should be fired up about things. 

The Brooklyn Nets were quite busy on NBA Draft night, highlighted of course by the trade they made sending Landry Shamet to the Phoenix Suns. In return, the team acquired the No. 29 overall pick in the first round, plus 25-year-old point guard Jevon Carter.

With that pick, Brooklyn ended up selecting North Carolina standout Day’Ron Sharpe. With that said, Nets fans should be excited about the potential of Carter. While he isn’t known as being a superstar in the league, he’s a great passer and can be a strong player off the bench for Brooklyn.

Jevon Carter could prove to be a great acquisition for the Brooklyn Nets

While Carter of course will be behind James Harden and Kyrie Irving on the depth chart, he can step in and give the Nets some valuable minutes. Last season, Carter averaged 12 minutes per game, scoring 4.1 points and adding 1.2 assists a night.

In his limited action, though, Carter showcased strong defense and he’s got a smooth touch from 3-point range. That will help Brooklyn next season. Imagine having an option to come off the bench who can drill big shots when his number is called, and also provide some quality defense too.

That will be incredibly beneficial for the Nets. This past season, the team had hopes of making it to the NBA Finals, but they were eliminated from contention to the eventual champs the Milwaukee Bucks.

Come next season, though, Brooklyn is considered among the favorites to win it all. Carter won’t be the guy to make or break things, but he could surely have a say in helping the team reach that goal.
