Alabama 4-star freshman defensive back leaves team to go Last Chance U route
By John Buhler
Four-star defensive back Kadarius Calloway is no longer with the Alabama football program.
After committing to the Alabama Crimson football program back in July 2020, former four-star defensive back Kadarius Calloway is no longer with the Crimson Tide.
The Philadelphia, Mississippi native has enrolled at East Mississippi Community College (of Last Chance U fame) in Scooba this summer. According to the 247Sports Composite, Calloway was the No. 2 player from Mississippi, the No. 4 player at his position group and the No. 135 player in the 2021 recruiting class. While Alabama had the best class in 2021, losing a top-150 player is never a good thing.
Calloway originally arrived on the Tuscaloosa campus back in May 2021 but did not enroll early.

So what does this mean for the Crimson Tide? Not as much as it means for Calloway. Alabama already has a loaded roster, and not being able to enroll early may have prevented Calloway from seeing early playing time as a true freshman. His departure to East Mississippi could mean any number of things, whether that be homesickness, academics or looking to transfer elsewhere.
It should be noted that Calloway had initially committed to play his college ball at Mississippi State. After a year or two at East Mississippi, Calloway might be ready to make his triumphant return to the SEC West to play for the Bulldogs. Regardless, Alabama football fans should not expect Calloway to make his presence felt this season, as he is no longer with the program.
With the 2021 regular season right around the corner, Calloway is going the junior college route.
