Larry Fitzgerald became a college football legend starring in Pittsburgh

He may have played his last down of football, but Arizona Cardinals legend Larry Fitzgerald remains unsigned heading into the preseason. He has never played for another NFL team before since being drafted No. 3 overall in the 2004 NFL Draft out of … Pittsburgh. Though a mainstay in the Valley of the Sun and a Minneapolis native, people do forget that Fitzgerald was also a Yinzer.

There will be very few places the future first-ballot Pro Football Hall of Famer would consider playing outside of Arizona. One would think his hometown Minnesota Vikings would be an option, but they are an NFC Wild Card team at best this year. If you want to look outside of the box a bit, the Steelers would make a great deal of sense, and it would not just be for sentimental reasons.

Fitzgerald is one of the most cerebral receivers the NFL has ever seen. He would be a welcomed addition to a Steelers organization that tends to gloss over the little things that are necessary towards winning far too often. In essence, you are getting an on-field coach on the offensive side of the ball. Professionalism, dignity and grace are winning traits you can never have enough of.

What other wide receivers should the Steelers consider if they do end up trading Washington?
