Isaiah Thomas harnesses inner Kobe with 81 points in pro-am game (Video)
Former Kings and Celtics point guard Isaiah Thomas channeled his inner Kobe Bryant en route to 81 points in a pro-am game.
Isaiah Thomas is doing everything he can to prove to NBA teams he still has something to give. That’s bad news for defenders on the pro-am circuit.
On Sunday in Seattle, Thomas did his best Kobe Bryant impression with 81 points in the CrawsOver Pro-Am league.
Thomas’ scoring total is a new record for the league.
He had 65 points in a pro-am game in Atlanta last week, so Thomas is clearly feeling good right now.

Do 81 points in the CrawsOver league mean anything to NBA teams? It’s not the biggest competition in the world, but it’s still an impressive output for the 32-year-old guard.
Thomas last played for the New Orleans Pelicans in April, appearing in three games while fulfilling a 10-day contract. He averaged 16 minutes, putting up 7.7 points, 1.3 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game in those appearances.
It’s now a matter of figuring out if there’s an NBA team out there who could use the veteran.
Thomas hasn’t been able to make it stick with one team for a while. He was waived by the Clippers in 2020 following a trade, having spent the start of the season with the Wizards. Before that, he played 12 games for the Nuggets in 2019.
During the 2017-18 season, he played for the Cleveland Cavaliers and Los Angeles Lakers but was heavily limited by injuries.
He’s never come close to the form he found in Boston from 2015-17. He garnered two All-Star nods during that run. The Boston Celtics shipped him to Cleveland as part of the Kyrie Irving trade.
Marc Stein recently reported the possibility of Boston bringing him back. Their interest might be piqued further by his recent scoring spree.
