After saying his goodbye to FC Barcelona, Lionel Messi made sure to stop and sign jerseys and photos for a group of loyal fans.

Lionel Messi came to Barcelona when he was 13 years old. He’s leaving the city 20 years later as a soccer legend.

He’s won just about everything at club level. He’s a six-time Ballon d’Or recipient and a 10-time La Liga winner. He’s given FC Barcelona fans everything possible for the better part of two decades.

Even as he departed the club with an emotional farewell press conference, he still took the time to brighten the day of fans, signing jerseys and photos as he drove away.

He didn’t have to stop to do that for fans. It just goes to show how much Barcelona has meant to him that he took the time on what was clearly an emotionally exhausting day.

Messi shed tears during the press conference that confirmed he’ll be leaving Barcelona. The player and the club weren’t able to come to terms on a new contract to keep the 34-year-old in place.

“I am really sad because I didn’t want to leave because this is the club I love,” Messi said during the press conference.

According to reports from ESPN and others, he is on the verge of joining French club Paris Saint-Germain. He acknowledged PSG as a potential destination during the presser.
