With Liam Hendriks on the mound, the odds of a Yankees comeback seemed slim at the moment. Yet, Stanton came up large with the Yankees down to their last out.
The White Sox have a solid lead in the AL Central over the second-place Tigers, so a win isn’t as imperative to them as it would be to New York. The Yankees have played well since the All-Star Break, and are gaining ground quick in the AL Wild Card race and the AL East.
Who won field of dreams game?
Not the Yankees. Just after Stanton’s monumental home run, New York gave the lead right back in the bottom of the ninth, thanks to a Tim Anderson walk-off blast off Yankees reliever Zach Britton.
The real winners on Thursday night where the White Sox (of course), but also Major League Baseball. The White Sox and Yankees put on a show come the ninth inning, and it proved to be a major hit on social media, and likely the television ratings as well.
