MLB Twitter roasted the Yankees for a ninth-inning choke job against the White Sox in a wild Field of Dreams extravaganza.

The Field of Dreams game was everything MLB could have hoped for and more. Unless you’re a Yankees fan.

New York had the rug pulled out from under them in Iowa, to the delight and frustration of Twitter.

It looked like Giancarlo Stanton had played the hero when he put New York ahead in the top of the ninth with a two-run homer. Celebrations of the four-run inning were premature.

The Yankees sent Zack Britton out to close the game and he gave up a two-run home run to Tim Anderson. The walkoff stung after coming so close to an epic comeback.

Yankees fans were beside themselves with some NSFW reactions.

The bullpen took a beating, not just on the mound.

This is not new at all for New York.

The schadenfreude on Twitter was everywhere

The Field of Dreams game became a nightmare for the Yankees

Yankees fans may be distraught, but baseball fans were generally thrilled with the Field of Dreams game.

It featured eight home runs into the cornfield and some late-inning drama. The scriptwriters couldn’t have done a better job.

Jose Abreu opened things up with a first-inning blast for the White Sox. Aaron Judge smacked in a three-run homer in the third. Then Anderson drove in a run before Eloy Jimenez and Seby Zavala hit home runs giving Chicago a commanding 7-3 lead.

The Yankees got one back with a Brett Gardner homer in the sixth, but they still went into the do-or-die ninth inning down by three. Aaron Judge produced a two-out homer to give New York a chance. Stanton undoubtedly thought he’d won the game when his home run put his team up 8-7.

Just like that, sports will lift you up and crash you back down.
