Bantamweight Rau’shee Warren had an explosive performance against Damien Vazquez and stopped Vazquez in round 2 with a leg-weakening TKO.

Rau’shee Warren didn’t need any time to warm up against Damien Vazquez in their Aug. 14 bantamweight boxing bout. He came out fast and furious and put Vazquez down twice before scoring the round 2 TKO.

Warren (19-3, 5 KOs), 34, of Cincinnati, OH, isn’t known as a knockout puncher, but don’t tell Vazquez that. Warren swung for the fences from the opening bell and scored two knockdowns in the first round with his lead right hook out of the southpaw stance.

Vazquez luckily made it out of the first round. He held and bought some time and steadied his legs a bit.

In round 2, Warren kept up his fast pace and, this time, unleashed a wicked straight left to Vazquez’s head that made Vazquez’s legs quiver and his hands drop. He was out on his feet and dropped to the canvas for the third time. The referee immediately stopped the fight.

It was a disappointing fight for Vazquez. Vazquez (15-3-1, 8 KOs), 24, of Las Vegas, NV, has lost his last two contests. He lasted 10 rounds with Brandon Figueroa before being stopped. Vazquez is young but looks like a gatekeeper early in his career.

Warren electrified the crowd at the Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, CA, on the undercard of the John Riel Casimero vs. Guillermo Rigondeaux Showtime event. He’s in the hunt for a title fight soon.
