There’s plenty of additions that the Los Angeles Lakers can make to their already budding roster. But here’s who they should avoid like the plague.

With the Los Angeles Lakers being the talk of the town with their additions of Carmelo Anthony and Russell Westbrook to the roster, the excitement is there to see how the team will pan out for the duration of the 2021-22 season.

Outside of Melo and Westbrook, they added Dwight Howard to the mix, showing that they’re getting the band back together again. With the addition of a former player, chatter has increased about what other players the team should add to make the hype even bigger than it already is.

While there’s a plethora of ring-chasing veterans who would be great assets, which ones should be avoided at all costs?

3. Jared Dudley

It does sound good in retrospect, especially when the former Laker has openly expressed that he would love to have one last ride with his former team as outlined by ClutchPoints. But why would it not work?

Well, you could argue that age could be the determinant, even though Melo and company are not worried about that. Dudley has been a great asset to the team when playing for the Lakers and could very well round out the roster This is partially due to his relationship with LeBron James.

But not signing him brings the opportunity to save some money and invest in younger players that can be valuable assets to the rotation. Players like James Ennis can mesh well with Malik Monk and Kendrick Nunn, both young talents who signed to the team this summer.

Not re-signing Dudley would solely be a decision for the franchise to make, but there are definitely more feasible, useful options out there on the market still.
