Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Chase Claypool injured his right leg in training camp, and has to be helped off the field. Per Claypool, all is well, however.

Claypool is arguably Ben Roethlisberger’s greatest deep threat — not that it means all that much given how the Steelers offense is constructed. However, as a clear top-3 wideout on the depth chart next to JuJu Smith-Schuster and Diontae Johnson, Claypool means a lot to this offense.

In what has since been described as a ‘minor ankle sprain’, Claypool was injured after trying to catch a Roethlisberger deep ball down the sideline at practice.

As is the case with all training camp injuries, a mass panic took over the airwaves when Claypool was unable to put any weight on his leg. Per the man himself, Claypool’s ailment can only be described as a minor blip.

Roethlisberger can only rely on deep passes so much at this point in his career, but when he does, expect him to target Claypool quite often. The former Notre Dame target is arguably the most explosive skill-position player on Pittsburgh’s roster.

Matt Canada will leave his mark on the Steelers’ offense one way or another. A year removed from his elbow surgery, perhaps Roethlisberger will show more willingness to throw the ball downfield — a facet that was sorely missing from the Steelers gameplan last season.
