Team Alpecin-Fenix shared control on the sprint stage from Calaruega to Burgos with Team Deceuninck-QuickStep. Fabio Jacobsen and Michael Matthews from Team Bike Exchange came in second and third.

Crashes at 2021 La Vuelta a Espana held up riders

Coming into the finish, a crash took several general classification contenders and other riders down at four kilometers to go.

It didn’t change the top ten overall standings but Team Bora-Hansgrohe took the most time lost as the crash held up rider Max Schachmann. Adam Yates from Team Ineos Grenadiers and Hugh Carthy from Team EF Education-Nippo were also held up but got to the finish line.
