6 Kentucky football players face burglary charges
Six members of the Kentucky football team have been charged with first-degree burglary connected to a disturbance at a party.
The 2021 college football season is only a couple of weeks away, and Kentucky football has a major issue to deal with.
On Thursday, six members of the Wildcat team were charged with first-degree burglary, per WKYT News.
The players, who will appear in court on Friday, are Reuben “RJ” Adams, Robert “Jutahn” McClain, Andru Phillips, Earnest Sanders IV, Vito Tisdale and Joel Williams.
Six Kentucky football players were charged with burglary
The charges stem from an incident at a party back in March. Here’s how WKYT described it:
"“According to police, on Saturday, March 6, 2021, there was a private party being thrown at a residence. During the party, three individuals entered the residence uninvited and were asked to leave. The individuals became upset and threatened they would return.“Police say a short time later, the three individuals returned with additional subjects. The group forced their way into the residence. One suspect was observed pointing a firearm at a victim.”"
Tisdale faces an additional charge of wanton endangerment as the suspect identified pointing the firearm at a victim.
According to a statement from head coach Mark Stoops, Kentucky has been aware of the situation since it happened and the players in question were withheld from team activities while a student conduct review was held.
“Based on the outcome of the review, the players returned to activity in June,” Stoops said.
All six players were freshmen last year as part of Kentucky’s 23-man 2020 recruiting class.
Tisdale played in 10 games and had 20 tackles as a safety.
McClain contributed as a running back last season. He had 16 carries for 62 yards in 11 games.
Williams saw action in nine games in 2020 as a safety. The four-star prospect had three total tackles.
Phillips, a defensive back, played in four games while taking a redshirt. He had one tackle.
Sanders was on the First-Year SEC Academic Honor Roll. The wide receiver played in two games while taking a redshirt.
Adams, an offensive lineman, redshirted in his first season.
