Is Madden 22 sending the NFL a message with Colin Kaepernick’s OVR?

Colin Kaepernick, who hasn’t played in a game since 2016, has a higher Madden rating than half the starters in the NFL. 

What in the world is Madden trying to tell us here? In the newest edition of the fan-favorite NFL game, the ratings are out and there surely are some that stick out. This includes the one for former superstar quarterback Colin Kaepernick.

Believe it or not, Kaepernick has been given a rating that is better than half the starting quarterbacks in the game. This is quite the message Madden is sending, as it’s clear they think Kaepernick belongs in pads.

Madden has given Colin Kaepernick quite the rating for the 2022 edition

In the game, Kaepernick holds an overall rating of 81. This is better that many starters, including Los Angeles Chargers stud Justin Herbert. The former Oregon Duck made quite the statement last year as soon as he was named the starter, showcasing his rocket for an arm.

According to Madden, however, he’s simply not as good as Kaepernick just yet. Kaepernick’s rating is also better than Kirk Cousins, Ben Roethlisberger, Trevor Lawrence and many others. While there’s no denying Kaepernick was a fantastic quarterback in his prime, the fact that he hasn’t appeared in a game since the 2016 campaign should have an impact on his Madden numbers.

The folks over at EA Sports don’t agree with that, though, as the 81 is set in stone for the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback. Kaepernick has tried multiple times to get back in the NFL, but things simply haven’t worked out for him.

It feels like a long shot that we’ll ever see him on the field come Sundays ever again. If it were up to Madden, that wouldn’t be the case. They’ve made that more than clear.
