Golden State Warriors rookie Jonathan Kuminga would prefer to go yachting with Klay Thompson over spending some time on the links with Steph Curry.

He has yet to play a game that counts for the Golden State Warriors, but we have undeniable proof that rookie first-round pick Jonathan Kuminga prefers Klay Thompson over Steph Curry.

Okay, not really, but he did say that if he had to choose, Kuminga would prefer to sail the seven seas with Captain Klay than go play 18 with Curry.

“Golf ain’t really my thing. Sorry Steph, I’d go with Klay,” said Kuminga on Dubs Talk. “Yeah, I’ve seen the videos. I’d go with Klay for sure.”

Of course, there are consequences towards picking a side here. Will Kuminga stay Team Klay or will be scurry over to Team Curry before it is too late?

Look. Everybody with a brain knows that if you have to pick between Boat Dude and Golf Guy, you go with the guy who can take you places. Golf Guy is notorious for bailing on you, as he is the equivalent of Horse Girl. While it is inferred that you will never measure up to Buttercup, expect for Golf Guy to miss weddings, bar mitzvahs and cul-de-sac cookouts because he is out on the links.

The only problem with this is Curry is the guy on the Warriors whose primary responsibility is to pass the ball. Thompson is a shooter and shooter’s shoot. While he may live the life aquatic, he’s no Steve Zizzou. So when the Portuguese renditions of David Bowie classics get old, prepare for Cap’n Klay to crank some Yacht rock faster than you can say, “play Brandy by Looking Glass, mate.”

Kuminga may be 18, and he may like it, but he must understand who captains this Warriors ship.
