Now with the Milwaukee Brewers, former Cardinals infielder Kolten Wong stole a base off Yadier Molina.

Yadi’s been regarded as one of the best defensive catchers in the major leagues, thus making it notable when any player successfully steals a bag against him — let alone when it’s a former teammate.

Wong stole second and literally took the bag as a souvenir.

MLB’s caught-stealing percentage is around 30 percent, whereas Molina throws out around 40 percent of base-runners. Those are Hall-of-Fame numbers, and Yadi has every right to flex them. In the same breath, however, opposing baserunners should relish the chance to signal their victory over Molina when they have the chance.

This is why Wong did late this week. In fact, he even got his former teammate to sign the base!

Milwaukee Brewers: Kolten Wong takes home a keepsake

Wong’s stolen-base attempt was reviewed, as is the case so often these days. During the replay process, Wong was seen discussing the steal with Molina, in which they agreed on a friendly wager.

After the game, Wong took home second base, and even got it signed by Molina as a token of good faith.

Wong is hitting .250 with a .708 OPS against the Cardinals so far this season, proving it was a mistake to move on from his steady bat at second base.
