Cowboys legend roasts Cowboys over recent treatment of Dak Prescott

Drew Pearson wishes the Dallas Cowboys would play Dak Prescott in the preseason this year.

Fresh off being inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, Dallas Cowboys legendary receiver Drew Pearson is not down with his former team’s decision to not play quarterback Dak Prescott in the preseason.

Pearson sat down with TMZ and discussed this very topic. While he firmly understands that this is a different era of the NFL, Pearson says that the only way to prepare for playing in a game that counts is to play in a preseason contest. He attributes much of the Cowboys’ success in the 1970s hinging on players playing in preseason games. This allowed them to get into game shape faster.

Prescott is working his way back from a broken ankle suffered one-third through last season.

Pearson said he saw Prescott spinning it just fine at Cowboys practice this summer. While he does not need to play more than a series or two, the last thing the Cowboys need to be this year is a finesse team. They are supposedly the best team in the NFC East, and not winning the division would be seen as a massive failure. Frankly, it would likely cost head coach Mike McCarthy his job.

If all goes well for Dallas, the Cowboys could potentially get back to the NFC Championship game for the first time in two decades, maybe making a trip to the Super Bowl. However, this franchise has done nothing but disappoint its fanbase since winning it all back in 1995. Prescott might be a special player, but this is a year he needs to prove he is undoubtedly a top-10 NFL quarterback.

Should the Cowboys struggle this season, the entire coaching staff should be looking for work.
