Bears wide receiver Rodney Adams spent the night sleeping in the hospital after the birth of his daughter, then caught a 73-yard touchdown on game day.

It’s been a wild 24 hours for Bears receiver Rodney Adams.

He spent Friday night sleeping in the hospital after his wife gave birth to a baby girl. On Saturday, it was time to suit up for Chicago’s preseason game against the Bills. He celebrated fatherhood with a huge performance including a 73-yard touchdown.

His celebration after the catch-and-run was absolutely perfect given the circumstances. He rocked the ball like a baby.

Let’s just talk about that catch, off the top of the defender’s helmet. That’s a legitimate play that Adams should have playing on a loop for weeks. With any luck, it’ll help him make the Bears roster for 2021.

Of course, Adams won’t have too much time to linger on arguably the biggest play of his career. He’s got to go focus on diapers and Girl Dad stuff.

Adams was a fifth-round selection in the 2017 NFL Draft by the Vikings. The USF product has spent most of his career on the practice squad, spending time with Minnesota, Indianapolis and Chicago. He missed out on the Bears roster last year, but this time things could be different. He’s shown out during training camp and keeps making big plays in preseason games.

On Saturday, Adams was one of the few bright spots in the Bears’ 41-15 loss. He finished with three catches for 89 yards. He also led the team in receiving last week against the Dolphins, catching four passes for 57 yards.
