The Cowboys head into the 2021 campaign desperate to return to the playoffs. Here are five bold predictions that will influence Dallas’ ability to succeed.

Head coach Mike McCarthy knows that another season without postseason football in Dallas will likely lead to the end of his tenure as the Cowboys’ head coach. That’s why the 2021 campaign is playoffs of bust for “America’s Team.”

To qualify for the postseason this year Dak Prescott needs to be healthy. Losing him to injury last year effectively ended Dallas’ season. That’s not the only problem that plagues the Cowboys though.

The defense’s inability to stop teams on a consistent basis was a major problem. Giving up 29.6 points per game is not a recipe for success. That’s why Dallas needs their first-round to come up big if they want to crash the postseason party this season.

3. Micah Parsons will lead the team in sacks

This prediction is a double-edged sword for the Cowboys. Parsons has great speed and projects as a high-quality playmaker at the next level, but he’s not a guy who should be leading a top-10 defense in sacks at any point during his career.

Deployed correctly, Parsons is a linebacker that can make plays all over the field. He’s going to be forced to rush the passer in conventional setups more often than he should as a rookie. Look for Parsons to succeed in spite of being missed slightly. He won’t notch double-digit sacks, but if he gets to seven or eight it should be enough to lead the team. That highlights the issues the Cowboys face up front, but Parsons will stand out due to his elite athleticism.
